Why I love Tesco so much ...!!!
I do my weekly shopping online with Tesco. Admittedly their App isn't quite as good as say Ocado and no, it doesn't link to Alexa... yet.. I'm hoping that will come! But their selection of gluten free food is great. And what I love beyond that, is that loads of their own brand "normal food" is also gluten free whereas if you look in other supermarkets, they often aren't. They are also really reliable, rarely substitute your products and the delivery drivers are all friendly! And no, I am not on commission! Ha ha! Anyway, this is doubly good as it means not only do you have a much larger selection to choose from but you also have a lower shopping bill! We all know that as soon as "gluten free" is printed on a label the price triples so if you can buy gluten free food from the regular isles, that's good in my book. I always have my Coeliac UK GF Food Checker App on stand by to double check my finds!! Here's some of my personal favorites so far (but of course, please verify these items are suitable for your dietary requirements before consuming): 1) The best find EVER..... frozen cocktail sausages. :) Perfect for children's parties! 2) "Finest" sausages (they now have a large meat section (sausages, burgers etc) in my Tesco all labelled as gluten free). 3) Stock cubes (although Knorr are now also GF). 4) Sweet and sour sauce (as is Uncle Ben's but not Sharwood's). 5) Miso paste. 6) Pate (other supermarkets often have "may contain" notifications). 7) Fish cakes (within the Finest range) 8) Sprinkles for ice cream (including little "smarties"). 9) Frozen chips. 10) Breakfast cereals (as is any own brand I am told by the dietician). 11) Breaded ham (comes with a gluten free crumb AMAZING). 12) Prawn shells (Tesco version of Skips) - no party is complete without these! All we need now are gluten free Monster Munch and chicken nuggets....!!!! :) :) The Little Coeliac is 6 now (gosh!) and becoming more and more adventurous with her food which I love! Her Dad and I are real foodies so this is music to our ears! :) And of course it makes it more interesting and more healthy for her!
